While having a visually-appealing website with good, helpful content is important, it’s not always enough to land your website on the first page of Google. Thankfully, though, you don’t have to be a professional with expert SEO skills to make your website noticeable to Google and other search engines. Here are a few tips and tricks to help your website stand out and get noticed on Google.
Use Internal Links within Posts
Using internal links to other pages on your website in a post isn’t just a good way to drive traffic to your other pages – it also makes your website much more search engine friendly and more likely to be noticed by Google. Google in particular likes to analyze your website as a whole, and, by adding internal links, you make it much easier for Google to scroll through your website.
Be Noticeable on Social Media
Joining social media is a great way to get your website more attention from Google, and the reason why is obvious. The more often your website and your business’ name and brand appear on sites such as Twitter and Facebook, the more likely Google – and potential customers and clients – are to notice your website over competitors. As a business, social media is one of your most powerful tools, and, by using it properly, you can boost your brand. However, rather than promoting your website and products in every post, try interacting with your followers, engaging with the trends, and posting helpful information.
Find Your Niche
Rather than posting about anything and everything, finding your niche can be extremely beneficial to your website’s visibility. Choose one or two things to specialize in that relate to your business. Not only will this help drive traffic to your blog, but it will help you choose keywords that aid your visibility.
Use Keywords in Your Posts
Keywords are called that for a reason – these are the key to getting your page noticed. Much like hashtags and trends, keywords help Google figure out what exactly your post is trying to convey, and if it’s a trending or particularly helpful topic, it’s more likely to get noticed and ranked higher. However, when using keywords, it’s important to find a healthy balance. Too little will make it so your page isn’t as noticeable, but too many may make your page look like spam – both of which options can be detrimental to growing your business.
Update Your Pages Often
Google is more interested in fresh content than it is a post from months ago. This is why a majority of websites now host a blog, as it’s an easy way to introduce new, helpful content at a regular interval. While the best way to make sure you’re constantly producing new content is a blog, it’s not the only way. You can also run promotions or feature weekly updates that let your clients know exactly what is happening and what to expect in the upcoming week.
