Whether you’re looking to start marketing your brand on your own, or you simply want to understand what you’re marketing team is talking about, a marketing course will give you a leg up. Here are some of the best free marketing courses that will have you talking like a pro in no time.
HubSpot Academy offers multiple free online courses that cover all the basics in just a few videos. Subjects include email marketing, inbound marketing, inbound sales and content marketing. At the end of each course, you take an exam to receive a certificate that’s good for a year. There are quizzes along the way, too, so you know what to expect. You can easily knock out the course in a weekend, or you can break it up over any length of time. Each video has about 30 minutes of videos, so you could do sections during your lunch break.
Google Analytics Academy
While not all of the courses from the Google Analytics Academy offer certifications at the end, you’ll still find the information in the courses useful. Google is the world’s most-used search engine—people actually use the site’s name as a verb. Google uses a complicated algorithm to determine what websites make it to the top of any particular web search. Understanding your website’s analytics—the number of visitors, how they got to your website, how long those visitors stay, what they click on—can help you keep your site relevant and attract even more visitors. You can’t be in the marketing game today without understanding social media. The Social Media Quickstarter course was designed by Constant Contact and teaches you how to use social media to get business results. You’ll learn social media basics like how to use some of today’s most popular social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube. It also delves into the world of ratings, social media reviews and blogging.
DS106: Digital Storytelling and Social Media
People are constantly being bombarded with content on social media. If you want a really effective social media strategy, it’s not enough to simply know the basics and post some stuff. You have to engage your audience by telling a compelling story. DS106 is a course that walks you through storytelling for the digital age. The course allows you to build your online identity (if you don’t already have one) and helps you develop skills in digital storytelling and social media networking.
Coursera’s Introduction to Marketing
Take a free college-level intro marketing class from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business on Coursera. You’ll learn about branding, customer centricity and get application go-to-market strategies. While you won’t get a grade or certificate for the course, it will definitely bring you up to speed. The Wharton School of Business is one of the best in the country, and the course is taught by some of their top professors. If you do want to expand your knowledge, you can pay to receive Wharton’s Business Foundations Specialization, which has five courses and a capstone project. You will earn a certificate upon completion of the Specialization.
