When it comes to social media and digital marketing, email is a tool that is often forgotten about. However, when it comes to digital marketing and boosting your branding or online business, email is one of the most important tools you can use. After all, while not everyone uses Twitter or Facebook, there are around 3.9 billion email users, meaning that you will have the opportunity to reach billions of people across many different demographics. Utilizing email can be a bit difficult, especially if you’re new to digital marketing, so here are 3 ways to grow your email list.
Use Lead Magnets
Often times, unless users are extreme fans of your content, they won’t just offer up their emails when prompted. It’s much easier to click the ‘x’ on the pop-up and continue their scrolling, especially when spam emails are such a problem. Thankfully, there’s a solution to this! Instead of just asking for a user’s email – thus ‘taking’ – give back through the use of a lead magnet. A lead magnet is some sort of exclusive offer that makes signing up for an email listing a bit more appealing for a user. If you’re lost for ideas on what to use as a lead magnet, some popular options are ebooks, cheatsheets, tutorials, and even simple planners. The main thing to remember is that your lead magnet should offer nearly instant satisfaction – it shouldn’t take weeks for your users to receive their offer!
Include a CTA in Your Closing Statements
One of the first things that writers are taught is that readers remember the most from both the beginning and the end. This means that this is where all of your most important and attention-grabbing information should be. The best way to take advantage of this is by including a Call to Action (CTA) in the closing statements of your content. This is not only a good way to drive your main point home but also boost your branding and include internal links. A CTA can be as simple as stating ‘to boost your branding today, click here’. You then can either link to another page on your website or to an email list signup form where you can include your lead magnet. The key is to make both your CTA and lead magnet irresistible, informative, and valuable so that users don’t feel cheated or disappointed after entering their email.
Turn to Social Media
Social media isn’t just a good tool for advertising your website and boosting your branding, you can also promote your email list. You can either post directly about your email list, inviting people to sign up, or you can incorporate the ‘give’ aspect, just like with your lead magnet. Giveaways are extremely popular, especially on Instagram. You can create a post giving away something relevant to your branding and design it so that an entry is a subscription to your newsletter. You’ll find that this will garner an abundance of attention outside of your niche.
